Andersons at The Waterloo
Anderson’s at The Waterloo is a true gem. This historic and atmospheric restaurant is full of charm; the welcoming interior is equally matched by the friendly hospitality of its knowledgeable, attentive staff. Whether it’s a quick business lunch, a family get-together or an enjoyable night out with friends, Anderson’s at The Waterloo is bringing it all to Newport.
Head chef and manager Dickie Flinn presents a modern, seasonal menu, inspired by the very best classic French and British cuisine. The menu is concise yet delicious. Kick off your meal with pressed ham hock terrine accompanied by toasted bread and piccalilli, or perhaps opt for the delicious pickled seafood salad. Main dishes include the likes of roast partridge with blackberry wine glaze and cavolo nero and the mouth-watering monkfi sh fillet atop curried mussel chowder. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, why not visit during one the restaurant’s intriguing Unforeseen Nights? Diners will take their table as usual, but there’ll be no menu to choose from. Instead, Dickie and his kitchen team will send out course after course, without the guests knowing what they’ll be dining on until it arrives on the table. If you’re around on Sundays, make a beeline for Andersons’ award-winning roast. Tables fill quickly, so it’s worth calling the venue in advance. This is very much a venue that’s doing it all, and doing it well.
