The Red Cow
Perched at the gateway to the Breacon Beacons National Park is The Red Cow. The pub is recognised among locals and visitors alike for its welcoming atmosphere, convivial staff, fresh, homemade food and reasonable prices. Its stone walls, window boxes and wooden features invite you to step inside to discover what lies beyond the door. In the colder months huddle up next to the roaring fire with a glass of red wine, and cool down with a refreshing pint in summer.
The menu is complete with traditional dishes such as 10oz rib-eye steak, pork loin doused in peppercorn sauce, homemade lasagne and pie with hand-cut chips. On Sunday, the offering includes a traditional roast with all the trimmings, and costs just £7.95 for adults and £3.95 for children. The pub has built a strong identity in the community, so it’s a real hub of activity – claim your crown at the regular quiz nights or enjoy some live music.
A little north of the pub is the stunning Pontsticill Reservoir, so why not increase your appetite with a walk around this picturesque spot before tucking in to some delicious homemade fare at The Red Cow?
