Old Barn Tea Room
Inside this charming 18th-century converted barn, tradition reigns. Grand high ceilings, wooden beams, glowing chandeliers and vintage furniture give a home-from-home feel, and service has a personal touch. The edible offering includes homemade soup of the day, freshly prepared sandwiches, and gluten-free options. Afternoon tea comprises half sandwiches, a slice of luxury cake, homemade scones, jam and clotted cream with a pot of tea, while hungry guests might choose the pitta with hummus, or classic Ploughman’s. Pair your chosen plate with a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or loose-leaf chamomile, Assam, Earl Grey or fruit tea. The experience is made all the more quaint by pretty fine bone china and classical music softly playing in the background. Sticking with the traditional theme, there’s no phone signal here, encouraging guests to socialise without distraction. Though you could happily reside here all afternoon, the Brecon Beacons National Park begs to be explored.
