The Gwaelod y Garth Inn is nestled in a quiet village at the foot of Garth Mountain. Dating back to the 19th century, this Welsh inn is full of character, with flagstone floors and open fireplaces. In the bar and dining room, the high ceilings and chunky beams create a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The front of house staff ensure everyone receives a warm welcome, whether you’re a mountain biker, dog-walker, a couple enjoying a romantic meal or part of a large group in the private dining room.
The experienced kitchen team has created a menu with something for everyone. Meat reared on nearby farms, fresh fish delivered daily by the local fishmonger, and locally baked bread are transformed into hearty dishes, such as steak and ale pie or faggots and peas. If you want a lighter option, there’s always plenty of fish on the menu, including the likes of the grilled sea bass, roasted hake or classic cod in batter with thick-cut chips. The specials board is constantly updated, ensuring even more choice. Sunday lunch is very popular with offerings of roast lamb, chicken, pork or beef cooked to your liking, served with fresh vegetables and lashings of gravy. Finish your meal with a delicious homemade pudding. To accompany the food, the inn offers a fantastic array of drinks, from local cask ale to an impressive wine list.
