A warm Welsh Valleys welcome awaits you at The Rock Country Inn & Restaurant. Paul and Jennifer Taylor have lovingly restored this historic hostelry, which has nestled in the beautiful verdant Sirhowy Valley since 1808. Its proximity to walking and cycling routes, Caerphilly Castle, Llancaiach Fawr and Cwmcarn scenic Forest Drive makes it an ideal base from which to explore the hidden gems of The Valleys.

Old-fashioned charm, tradition and service are all at the heart of The Rock, where genial hosts Paul and Jennifer are ably aided by their bar staff who are skilled, fun and friendly. The work of local artists is displayed on the walls and fresh flowers are always in sight - the window boxes and hanging baskets are a treat to behold.

A deliciously varied menu features food that is locally sourced wherever possible and freshly prepared to an excellent standard, catering for both those on the move at lunchtime and those who prefer to linger and take advantage of the 'Sparks and Mencer' offer. The evening menu is comprehensive and the specials innovative and regularly changed. An elegant well-stocked bar boasts a choice of real ales, including full-bodied ecclesiastics The Reverend and The Abbot. An interesting selection of wine and some old-fashioned soft drinks complete the dining experience.

Friday night at The Rock is tapas night, when an array of freshly made delicacies can be found at the bar to tempt even the most jaded palate. Enjoy convivial conversation whilst sampling the latest culinary concoctions and listening to the elegant piano playing of in-house entertainer Steve Lancefield.

A visit to The Rock is not complete unless you've taken time to relax in the snug. The eclectic mix of furniture and family artefacts adds to its ambience; make sure you ask about the fascinating story of the cabinet, which holds many pretty things to delight the ladies. To complete the experience stay in one of the five superior, individually designed en-suite rooms - a real home away from home. Rest, relax and recuperate whilst enjoying good food, good ale and good repose
