The Wheatsheaf Restaurant with Rooms
First-class food using the freshest ingredients can be found on the menus here at The Wheatsheaf. Head chef John Keir weaves his culinary magic on locally available high-quality produce to create his own brand of modern British cuisine. The menu presents a symphony of mouth-watering dishes designed with ultimate enjoyment in mind. Delight in the likes of chilled hot-smoked salmon and dill fishcake to start, while main courses utilise fresh fish from Eyemouth and excellent Scottish Borders lamb and beef - all beef is fully traceable as The Wheatsheaf is a member of The Scotch Beef Club. Example dishes include fillet of beef with an oyster mushroom sauce and white truffle oil, and rack of tender Borders lamb with a basil and mustard crust drizzled with rosemary-scented juices. Vegetarians are also well catered for with their own separate menu.
With such offerings it is little surprise to learn that The Wheatsheaf has been winning awards for quite some time; it is currently the proud holder of an Eat Scotland Award, has two AA rosettes and a four-star rating for its restaurant and rooms, and was also winner of the Best Formal Meal 2006 and 2007, and 2005 Best Service award at The Scottish Borders Eating Out Awards. Superior cuisine and a cosy, country setting - I can only see their award cabinet continuing to fill.
