This award-winning restaurant supply company is the passion and brainchild of Johnny Rutherford. Originally from the Kelso area, his time spent around the kitchens, gardens and dinner tables of France as a boy kindled a love for flavourful guinea fowl and fat corn-fed chickens. An education at the Royal Agricultural College and roots in farming led Johnny back to Kelso and to the gradual creation of his successful company.
A passion for game in particular inspired him to start his venture by hand-rearing ducks and guinea fowl, but he now sources local beef, lamb, pork, veal, deer, grouse, pheasant and partridge, making sure that these products come from no further than 30 miles away from the farm wherever possible. The taste of his produce speaks for itself, with the welfare and diets of all the animals given close attention - this is undoubtedly transferred to the quality of the finished product.
They also supply a selection of terrines, roulades and parfaits, as well as gourmet sausages and smoked foods and dairy products. The business is now branching out in a hope to get the average household chef enthusiastic about game. Johnny has formulated recipes and marinades that you at home will find easy to put together and will end up tasting as good as restaurant fare.
