Just 16 miles south of Edinburgh on the A701, this award-winning organic farm strives to bring its customers the very best fresh, seasonal, organic produce every day.
The team rears and prepares all their own beef, lamb and pork on the farm, along with Christmas turkeys. They grow a wide range of seasonal vegetables, soft fruit and salad leaves, and make amazing omelettes with eggs from the Whitmuir hens. All the bread is baked on-site, as are the cakes and puddings, and Whitmuir’s kitchen produces a great range of homemade chutney, jam, quiches, pies and oatcakes. Whitmuir specialises in fresh, organic Scottish food with a twist of creativity, so in addition to offering everything from homemade soups and scones to slow-roasted pork, the kitchen will surprise you with the likes of gorgeous kale salads, pearl barley risotto and perhaps the best well-hung steak you will ever taste.
As well as the award-winning café, the farm is also home to the Dancing Light Gallery of contemporary Scottish art, Quercus Garden Plants nursery and Gladstone Bag Antiques, so there’s always a reason to visit.
