AtlanticOrganic at Whitmuir
AtlanticOrganic is the organic café-restaurant at Whitmuir Farm, a working organic farm south of Edinburgh. With over 30 years’ experience, head chef Alexander Escobar is passionate about farm-to-table dining. He strives to source sustainably and ethically and as locally as possible according to the seasons. Alex is always developing new and delicious ways to use fresh produce from the farm and across Scotland. Stop by for a breakfast roll with Whitmuir-reared bacon, enjoy a light seasonal salad for lunch or try a delicious homemade cake with Fairtrade coffee. If none of these staples tickle your fancy, be sure to check out the ever-changing list of tempting specials.
The regular AtlanticOrganic Supper Club is proving a big hit with foodies. On the last Friday of every month, guests can sample seasonal ingredients in imaginative combinations around a communal table. Whitmuir is also home to a farm shop and butchery, as well as Dancing Light Art Gallery, Quercus plant nursery, Junkshop Antiques, and a few sheep, pigs and cattle. Whitmuir provides a great day out – a popular choice with environmentally conscious shoppers and families. Kids love the rustic fairy walk, seeing the animals and fi nding out where food comes from. There are toys, toilets and baby changing facilities in the café. The café and shop premises are completely accessible. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
