Corner House Hotel
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
With a new husband and wife team at the helm change is afoot, but be assured that you will receive the same welcoming reception and delicious meals that this inn has always offered. Five cosy bedrooms, let on a bed and breakfast basis, mean that mornings feature a full Scottish breakfast with the obligatory crispy bacon, eggs, grilled tomato, mushrooms and baked beans; and at 10am the doors open to non-residents too, so everybody can start the day in a hearty fashion.
The full menu is served all day, and with chef James in the kitchen you can expect a multitude of traditional Scottish pub dishes. James takes advantage, as much as possible, of the huge supply of local produce available to him. Every day sees a fresh homemade soup of the day as well as other possibilities including marinated herring and mackerel salad with a horseradish cream. All lamb and haggis comes direct from a local family-run butcher and local fish, such as battered haddock, make regular appearances. Daily specials might see local salmon or a chargrilled tuna steak with lemon and prawns, and desserts will tempt with the likes of homemade rhubarb crumble. The restaurant can seat up to 20, with room for a further 12 to 14 people in the snug, which can also be hired out for birthdays and anniversary celebrations.
So whether enjoying the bar area, sipping on a malt whisky or pint of Belhaven Best, or feeding the family in the wood-panelled restaurant, you'll find quality through and through.
