2-4 Camphill Avenue, Glasgow, G41 3AY
With stunning views overlooking Queen's Park - some of Glasgow's most historical and impressive grounds - The Ivory Hotel occupies one of the most sought-after positions in the city. Once a majestic Victorian mansion, the building has retained many of its traditional features while also featuring key modern and contemporary elements. The all-glass conservatory is located to one side of the bar and offers breakfast, lunch, pre-theatre and à la carte menus. The menus are varied, reasonably priced and change every month. Highlights from the lunch menu include grilled salmon served with a crispy potato cake and fresh mussels, as well as the light tempura of squid with tartare sauce.

From Sunday to Thursday, the restaurant offers a pre-theatre menu priced modestly at £10.95 for two courses. The homemade chicken liver paté, served with homemade jam and baby focaccia, shows the kitchen's ease and ability in dealing with a classic starter, while the equally mouth-watering Thai chicken curry with rice and pak choi is available for those who are a little more daring. The à la carte diners are treated to such delights as slow-roasted lamb shank with redcurrant-scented jus, spiced Puy lentils and Savoy cabbage - the earthiness of the lamb blends fantastically with the rich jus and spicy lentils. The comprehensive wine menu, with over 16 available by the glass, starts at just £10.95 per bottle. With only 11 rooms, the hotel prides itself on a personal touch that larger establishments can only aspire to. The informed and attentive service, considerate and well-constructed menus, not to mention the quality of the food, make this one of Glasgow's most exciting dining destinations
