The Ubiquitous Chip was founded in 1971 by Ronnie Clydesdale as a response to Scotland's lack of identity in terms of its cuisine. Still in the family today, 'The Chip' (as it is affectionately known) continues to lead the way with exciting, ever-changing menus that utilise fresh, locally sourced ingredients. With a broad range of culinary styles and influences, The Chip mirrors both Glasgow's history and exciting contemporary culture.

Positioned at the heart of Ashton Lane, The Chip is home to three bars and two restaurants that offer something for everyone. The courtyard restaurant is one of the most charming and magical spaces in the city, offering a fine dining menu in its central space and a lighter brasserie menu in the bars, mezzanine and roof terrace.

The Chip has evolved and grown to fill the adjoining beautiful Victorian mews and courtyard. Complementing the courtyard restaurant are three distinctly individual bars - The Big Pub originally opened as a pre-dinner drinking space and has developed into the charismatic local pub it is today; The Corner Bar serves the finest cocktails in the city; and The Wee Pub (the smallest in Scotland) is a great place to stand, chat and while away a few hours over a dram
