Martha's has cemented a reputation as a purveyor of exciting, nutritious and quickly prepared food. The café holds on to some features of a traditional fast food restaurant, with no need to call and book, speedy counter service and disposable cutlery, but with one look at the bright, invitingly modern decor and the vibrant, seasonal menu, one realises that Martha's is distinctly original.

We began with a delicious and unmistakably fresh sweet potato, lime leaf and chilli soup - chilli being one of the 'seasonal hero' ingredients which permeate the menu. A main course of baked chickpea falafel was a beautifully balanced dish, served topped with a refreshing yoghurt dressing, cucumber, peppery radish and poppy seed, and washed down with an invigorating C-Moregreen smoothie. The Red Dragon pork is a favourite among regulars, and was as pleasing on the eye as it was juicy and delicious.

To finish, we devoured a slice of the impossible-to-resist, freshly baked gluten-free chocolate and almond cake, which we'd been looking forward to since we arrived. From the quality and freshness of the ingredients, and the healthy yet playful menu, it's easy to understand why customers are so excited about returning to Martha's on a very regular basis
