The Manna House is a little ray of Mediterranean-inspired sunshine in the east of the city, combining a patisserie with all the best things about a bakery. With so many beautiful baked goods available, you might find it tricky to choose. It's lucky then, that there are always friendly staff on hand, happy to advise you on which fabulous treats to indulge in. Along with various vegetarian options, expect to find homemade delights like freshly baked bread, perfect pastries and cakes, as well as pies and quiches straight from the oven - almost everything here is made on the premises.

If you're looking for something light to nibble on, I'd suggest the fougasse: a delicious and rustic version of the pretzel. For the main course, The Manna House does an excellent potato Dauphinois pie, accompanied by a beetroot and baby spinach salad. They also offer a variety of homemade soups, including the filling chorizo, tomato and chickpea zuppa, best enjoyed with a few of the freshly baked breadsticks.

When it comes to dessert, you'll be spoilt for choice with at least 20 different choices. Of particular note are the cheesecakes, but the olive oil, apple and sultana cake with maple syrup icing is well worth sampling too. The Manna House really does make the best brownies around, and the double chocolate and macadamia variety is superb. This café is a hidden delight, and well worth seeking out.
