Bringing Mexican street food with a North American edge to the heart of Edinburgh, Los Cardos packs plenty of authenticity into its small premises. As first-timers, we somewhat slowed down the efficient serving system, but the helpful staff soon gave us the low-down. Quesadillas, tacos and burritos are assembled before your eyes from a mouth-watering array of fillings and condiments. For us, pork was packed plentifully into a huge tortilla with beans, rice, cheese and salsa.
We also shared three smaller helpings of steak, chicken and haggis – a Scottish twist that works well with the restaurant’s format. What really sets Los Cardos apart is how well it lives up to its ‘Fresh Mex’ ethos, efficiently delivering wholesome, flavourful food fresh to order. Even the creamy guacamole is made fresh every day from perfectly ripe avocados.
Those who would prefer to enjoy Los Cardos’ offering from the comfort of their own home can make use of the restaurant’s take away and delivery services.
