Chinese and East Asian
Small but elegant and recently refurbished, The Khukuri offers an enticing range of authentic Nepalese food that is well worth discovering. The dining experience is enhanced by welcoming and friendly staff, who are happy to share their knowledge of the region and the food on offer.
For starters, be adventurous and try thukpa soup or the enjoyable bara, a traditional lentil pancake made with Himalayan spices, served with a distinctive spicy sauce. We’d also recommend the momo – delicious dumplings filled with chicken or vegetables. These take a little longer to prepare but are definitely worth waiting for – the chicken momo with chilli and garlic are exceptionally good. Main courses include traditional choices such as korma and tikka masala but we were guided by the in-house experts and so I chose a Nepalese dish – chicken Namche, a medium-spiced dish served in a sizzling karahi. My partner sampled the king prawn hariyali, a spicy dish cooked with mint, coriander and green chilli. Accompanied by garlic naan bread cooked in a traditional charcoal oven and perfectly cooked rice, both dishes boasted a combination of flavours that we won’t soon forget. The Khukuri also offers food to take away, and a lunchtime delivery service that allows you to order straight to your office. For a set price you can order a selection of delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Check out The Khukuri’s website for special offers.
