Situated in an impressive mansion house in Edinburgh's prestigious West End, close to Murrayfield Stadium, The Skerries Restaurant provides an elegant, memorable dining experience for Edinburgh locals, hotel residents and travelling foodies alike. With a new, unique look for 2012 - designed by owner Shirley Mowat - that creates an intimate yet casual atmosphere, Skerries is a restaurant for all occasions. Whether you need a venue for a celebration or just an excuse to eat out, its inspiring menu, outstanding hospitality and refined atmosphere ensure an evening that's a cut above the rest.

Having joined the team this year, head chef Martin Collins brings with him a wealth of experience from similar restaurants and focuses on maximising the experience of each individual customer. Enriched by Martin's extensive knowledge of local Scottish produce, especially seafood, the varied Skerries menu offers dishes to suit all palates. The must-try seafood chowder is a real favourite with locals, while the Loch Duart hot smoked salmon will blow you away with its unique flavour.

For your main meal, indulge in chargrilled Orkney rib-eye steak with a choice of sauces, or enjoy the lighter choice of succulent Shetland salmon or scallops. Save room for dessert though, as Skerries is well known for homemade sweets such as chocolate fondant and light lemon and orange tart with delicious homemade ice cream - the perfect end to your meal.

Service is seamless, with friendly staff attending to your needs and providing advice where required. What's more, The Stane Bar has long been known for its vast selection of Scottish malt whiskies and knowledgeable bar staff, who are always on hand to help you with your selection after your meal. So take advantage of the range on offer at the bar, or relax and enjoy a coffee or liqueur at your table.

The Skerries Restaurant is part of the four-star-rated Dunstane House Hotel, which boasts 19 en-suite bedrooms, also individually designed by Shirley. The colour-themed rooms, new for 2012 and each boasting little luxuries such as Molton Brown toiletries and gorgeous linen, are not to be missed - the Red Room's impressive four-poster bed and the Blue Room's stunning feature headboard are spectacles in themselves.
