The Gateway Restaurant
Moments from Edinburgh city centre is the tranquil Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. With 70 acres of manicured lawns and landscaped grounds, the garden strives to maintain biodiversity through the growth and preservation of over 17,000 species of plants and trees from around the world.
Within the gardens you’ll find The Gateway Restaurant, an unusual space with room for 120 diners inside and a further 60 on the terrace, and boasting outstanding views over the garden. The David Douglas Room adjacent to the restaurant provides a stunning location for private lunches for up to 40 diners.
Chef Johnny Scott is passionate about providing a varied range of quality, beautifully presented and freshly prepared dishes. His menus change regularly to reflect the seasonal availability of locally sourced produce and ingredients. The result is a range of tempting dishes, with flavours to excite all palates. Traditional favourites, including a hearty Scottish breakfast and a host of children’s options, are supplemented by a delightful range of salads. Keep an eye out for produce picked from the team’s on-site market garden.
Why not visit The Gateway Restaurant for a sumptuous afternoon tea – the perfect treat to help you while away a lazy afternoon or celebrate in style.
