The Sylvan Oak is very much in keeping with its name and surroundings. Decorated and constructed using various types of wood, it nestles at the foot of the South Downs, in the beautiful Findon Valley, and is a mere ten minutes north of historic Worthing. Presenting an evolving food culture, head chef and proprietor Sinan Kalan is serving up full-flavoured dishes with impeccable visual presentation. The restaurant philosophy is simple: they are dedicated to relaxed, affordable and unhurried fine dining, and insist on sourcing local Sussex ingredients wherever possible, from the vegetables to the beverages. Using produce that has come from sustainable sources - wild, organic and free-range - Sinan's menus are centred around seasonal availability, changing regularly to provide dishes full of vitality all year round, from the freshest asparagus to the most succulent cuts of meat, and all at reasonable prices. 2010 is proving to be a great year for the Sylvan Oak; they have celebrated being awarded 'Highly Commended' in the finals of the Sussex County Times' Restaurant of the Year Awards, they've had some impressive food reviews from well-known food critics and they are soon to celebrate their fifth birthday.
