The Buck Inn is well known for its excellent hospitality, warm ambience and delicious home-cooked food. This traditional pub has built a glowing reputation for using locally sourced ingredients that are full of flavour to create a menu packed with traditional favourites. An evening of quality food and drink began with a hearty bowl of tomato and spring onion soup for me, and a smoked haddock fishcake served with homemade tartare sauce for my wife – both were equally delicious. I followed with the steak and ale pie, which delivered on every level. The homemade pie was bathed in thick gravy and accompanied by crispy chips and a range of seasonal vegetables, and my wife’s sublimely tender gammon, topped with fried eggs, chips and peas, was just as accomplished and hearty. A shared cheeseboard and rich black coffees rounded off a splendid evening. There’s truly something for everyone at this tremendous establishment.
