William & Victoria
Situated in the heart of Harrogate, just a short walk from the Exhibition Centre, shops and theatre, the family-run William & Victoria is a real find. Walking into the wine bar downstairs is like stepping back in time – subdued lighting and intimate booths create a great first impression.
The bustling atmosphere of the wine bar and the elegant charm of the restaurant have ensured that William & Victoria has become a Harrogate institution, much loved by its loyal locals and visitors to the beautiful spa town. Owner David Straker has worked front of house for 27 years, so he’s a familiar face to regulars of the longest-standing wine bar in Harrogate. Favourite dishes in the wine bar include the slow-roasted pork with crackling and apple sauce, and lamb Henry with mint and rosemary. A traditional Sunday lunch is also served from noon until 5pm every Sunday.
In spring 2015, the William & Victoria underwent an extensive refurbishment across the two floors. The addition of an internal staircase has brought unison to the restaurant and the same classic British menu is now served on both floors. The upstairs area boasts a private dining room for up to 30 people for those special occasions or business dinners. The Straker family sees this major investment as a worthwhile step in maintaining their status as the longest-established wine bar in Harrogate.
