Old White Beare
Combining classic British pub fare with contemporary touches, the Old White Beare knows how to please the hoards of regulars and new visitors who walk through its doors. You’ll be happy to hear that fresh, seasonal ingredients are put to good use in freshly prepared dishes cooked by Michelin-trained head chef Eddy Nuttal and his team. Whether you choose a smart, refined plate or comforting classic, each dish is cooked to a high standard – the result is both familiar yet exciting. From the starters, the lamb and bacon meatballs served with tomato and mushroom ragu, Parmesan and toasted rye comes highly recommended. Follow with the likes of Timothy Taylor short-crust steak and ale pie, served with butter mash, sauté greens, roasted shallots and marrowbone gravy, and beer-battered haddock fillet, hand-cut chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Alternatively, there are several sumptuous grill options to choose from, including 40-day-aged steaks from Waterford Farm and a range of burgers.
From the gleaming polished bar and local art hanging on the walls, to the excellent service and Casque Mark-accredited ale, everything is carefully considered. The building dates back to 1533 and utilises reclaimed Elizabethan timber, so soak up the atmosphere with some fantastic food and drink and enjoy the historic surrounds – you won’t be disappointed. The Old White Beare is also available for private hire, with space to fit over 300 guests. From weddings to birthdays, the staff at this wonderful establishment will ensure a memorable visit.
