Melton's and Melton's Too are considered to be among the best restaurants in York and have earned their place within the pages of every good food guide. Both have a shared commitment to using local, seasonal produce whilst serving homemade food.

Melton's Restaurant was opened in 1990 by chef-proprietor Michael Hjort and his wife Lucy. This fine-dining restaurant with its relaxed and intimate setting has gained an excellent reputation due to its constantly evolving menu, which makes the most of local seasonal produce. Melton's Too opened its doors in 2001. Housed in a charming three-storey, 17th-Century building, the eatery serves bistro-style food in a friendly, bustling atmosphere. The ground-floor bar serves real ale and a range of wines - perfect for sipping with some tempting tapas. Three floors and various rooms make this the perfect location for your large party celebrations.

Both restaurants are known for their themed events. Melton's run Saturday lunches, such as a Venetian lunch and a lobster lunch, and on race days there's a Champagne brunch available. Melton's Too hosts monthly wine-tastings and, highlighting their dedication to cooking with regional food, also hosts four festivals over the year - Pies and Puddings, Asparagus, Lobster and Game - which all celebrate Yorkshire produce.
