The Bulls Head
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The thing I like best about this place is its charming linked seating areas. Mingle with family and friends in the library or Coxley room, enjoy the fireside in the colder months, or get up close with someone special in the snug. Decked throughout with quality wooden furniture, leather seating and interesting antique pieces, there's a traditional feel and glow to the whole place.
Fantastic food is served throughout all areas (a testament to its popularity) with specials boards and the main menu offering much more than typical pub fare. Of course, the classics are all here, including beef lasagne and steak pie (both homemade), fish 'n' chips and wholetail scampi, which features fresh fish that's delivered six days a week. Scattered amongst these are The Bull's long-standing signature dishes - lamb Devonshire, beef stroganoff and chicken bundle - alongside more adventurous Oriental-style kettle of fish, spicy creole and Thai green curry. All dishes are cooked to order and local produce is used wherever possible.
They've got customer service down pat here too - a friendly face greets you at the reception desk, guiding you through to a table that suits. If it's sunny outside and you want to make the most of the British summer, ask for a picnic table out on the sun terrace. The Bull is famous for its party dining too, with all areas available for private hire. Situated on the main A642 Wakefield to Huddersfield road, The Bulls Head enjoys spectacular views overlooking the Coxley Valley and really does offer excellent value for money, with consistent quality, to each and every customer.
