The Leopold Hotel

This historic Grade II listed building once housed a school and reopened as a stylish hotel in 2007. The decor is smart, elegant and a little bit quirky, and each of the 90 individually designed guest rooms boasts all the facilities a modern visitor could need, including iPod docks. The hotel's restaurant was given a bronze Green Tourism award for its excellent environmental practices and is popular with those visiting the nearby Crucible Theatre and Winter Garden. Stop by for dinner and sample superior starters such as ham hock terrine, first-rate mains like cod fillet, crushed new potatoes with citrus butter and seasonal vegetables, and a delectable homemade dessert such as sticky toffee pudding.
