This traditional ale house was built by local farmer Albert Twigg in the 1890s, and since then the owners have been making sure Sheffielders have somewhere welcoming to enjoy a pint of hand-pulled ale and a proper Yorkshire pie. The menu is made up of the aforementioned homemade pies and sausages, and other creative mains like grilled fillet of gurnard in a butterbean, chorizo, black olive and tomato broth, and maple-glazed ham hock with roasted root vegetables, chips and Old Rosie gravy. Care has also been taken to make sure there's plenty of choice for those with special dietary requirements. At the bar, you'll find fine ales and ciders, bottled beers, an awe-inspiring selection of whiskies and a very interesting selection for the abstemious. Party bookings are welcomed and a good time is guaranteed for all
