Trenchers Seafood Restaurant
Little ones, who are made to feel very welcome, have their own interesting menu, and vegetarians and meat eaters are well served with homemade steak pie, meat and vegetable lasagnes and various salads. We chose New Zealand green lipped mussels and a prawn cocktail for starters, both of which were gorgeous. I followed with a large-size haddock and chips, my dining partner choosing the halibut. Perfect crisp batter matched perfect crisp chips - absolutely fabulous. We had my favourite, a pot of tea with our fish, but if I had been drinking alcohol I would have definitely tried the Veuve St Vincent sparkling brut or, had we decided on meat dishes, a very tempting organic Rioja. Along with the extensive menu the chef also includes blackboard recommendations on a daily basis - on the evening we dined, these included Whitby cod and Mediterranean prawn salad. All fish is sourced locally with sustainability in mind. Fruit and vegetables are also bought locally, the restaurant having used the same local supplier for years. Waiting staff, smart in black and white, are professional, efficient, friendly and welcoming, food is fabulous, the wine wonderful, desserts divine and the decor sparkling.
So why choose Trenchers rather than any other seafood restaurant in Whitby' Simple - why go anywhere other than to the best.
