The warmest welcome awaits you at The Plough, where a stylish yet homely interior invites you to explore further. There’s intimate, cosy seating to curl up in and plenty of eye-catching pictures, clocks and mirrors adorning the walls, adding character. You’ll probably find you want to stick around as long as possible, so why not book a night in one of the bedrooms? Thoughtful touches and quality furnishings make for a sumptuous night’s stay. If dining is at the top of your list of priorities, you’ll enjoy exploring the menu; with tapas and sharing platters, there’s something for everyone. To start, we chose from the range of tapas and enjoyed beetroot-cured salmon, bubble and squeak croquettes, and pork, apple and sage sausage rolls. For the main course, the artichoke and truffle ravioli with grilled leeks, sage pesto, toasted pine nut butter and shaved Parmesan was a flavourful delight. My companion opted for the grilled Barnsley chop, which came with a little shepherd’s pie, sticky cabbage and mint. The lamb was succulent and delicious; the perfect gluten-free option. Desserts were chosen from a tempting range. I indulged in a warm apple frangipane tart with salted caramel sauce and clotted cream ice cream, and my companion’s lemon and rosemary posset with blackberries and honeycomb was a delight. We concluded that a visit to The Plough is an absolute must for foodies.
