Blacksmiths Arms Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The charm of this authentic country inn is apparent from the moment you step inside. Beneath ancient oak beams, gleaming copper and brass and traditional furnishings create a welcoming ambience, and on chilly nights the real log fires add cosy warmth.
The menu offers a tempting choice of classic fare including grills, fish and several vegetarian options, while a board advertises homemade specialities. Premium quality, locally sourced ingredients are carefully chosen and prepared. Our starters of prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce, and smoked salmon with mixed leaf salad were delicious and fresh. My main dish of salmon with a creamy wine sauce was delicate and succulent, while my companion’s sirloin steak, served with onion rings, tomatoes and mushrooms, was cooked to perfection. Seasonal vegetables, potatoes and chunky chips were mouth-watering accompaniments. Somehow we made room for indulgent profiteroles and a melt-in-the-mouth plum and almond frangipane tart, both of which were irresistible and provided a delectable finale to a superb meal.
Lunches and evening meals are served daily, and traditional Sunday lunch is not to be missed. There’s also a great selection of wine and ale. It is easy to understand the popularity of this characterful inn, where friendly service and exceptional food make a memorable impression.
