Huby Road, Sutton-on-the-Forest, York, North Yorkshire, YO61 1DT
The charming, stunningly comfortable Blackwell Ox Inn is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy some mouth-watering food. Located just seven miles from the centre of York, you'll find this 19th-Century inn nestling in Sutton-on-the-Forest, with beautiful decor, seven individually designed rooms and bags of deliciousness waiting inside. The elegant restaurant seats up to 34 diners, and daily-changing menus are created by chef Tom Kingston. Wherever possible he uses locally sourced produce, formed into a fantastic range of options. For starters you might find feta cheese and salami salad with parsley oil, or perhaps some creamy carrot and orange soup. A main dish of pan-fried bacon chop, served with the complementing flavour of spiced apple purée and satisfyingly chunky hand-cut chips, is a fitting example of the type of treats you'll be able to choose from. Vegetarians aren't forgotten and neither are the little ones, who can select from their own designated menu, and a refined yet relaxed private dining room is available for up to 20 guests. Like any inn worth its salt, The Blackwell Ox serves up a good selection of hand-pulled beers, as well as an extensive wine list with house wines available by the glass. Take your drinks onto the outside terrace when the weather is warm, or snuggle by the open fire when the days are short. The Blackwell Ox Inn provides comfort with real style.
