Situated in Hull’s oldest domestic building, The Old House is a warm and welcoming pub with a stylish upstairs dining space and a relaxed and informal ambience. Located on Scale Lane in Hull’s old town, this cosy eatery is just a short walk from Hull Marina. Head chef Chris Harrison takes great pride in creating modern British dishes and presenting them beautifully. Chris worked in some of the best restaurants and pubs in the world, before starting a street food company called Shoot the Bull.
The Old House is the only pub in Hull to showcase Yorkshire wagyu beef, which has an outstanding depth of flavour, so we would recommend that you try the wagyu sirloin steak, served with miso-glazed potatoes and sesame-roasted broccoli. To precede this, you must try the show-stopping seared king scallop with Doreen’s black pudding, potato and vanilla purée, roasted almond and jacket potato froth. Desserts are modern spins on traditional classics, like sticky toffee coffee pudding with bourbon vanilla ice cream and amaretto toffee sauce. Choose from a wide range of craft beer and local ale to accompany your meal, or pick from the extensive selection of wine or gin. The calibre of food here is truly superb, and the service is impeccable, so you’re sure to find yourself at home in The Old House.
