The Lister Arms

0.5 miles
Malham, BD23 4DB
Nestled below Malham Cove is The Lister Arms, one of the Thwaites Inns of Character. This traditionally British venue is blessed with exceptional countryside views, open fires and elegant furnishings. It's dog-friendly and welcoming, and the bar offers a wide variety of real ales, including the legendary Wainwright's and local ales like Hetton Pale Ale from the Dark Horse brewery - in other words, The Lister Arms is the perfect place to stop for a great pint and hearty food after a day taking in the glorious sights of the Yorkshire Dales.

The food menu has everything from bar snacks, sandwiches and salads to a wide range of specials, sweets and Sunday roasts. Choose to dine in the restaurant or in any of the cosy bar rooms, and enjoy top-notch, locally sourced food. The pub has recently appointed a new chef who designs regularly changing specials menus consisting of three seasonal starters and three mains; one fish, one meat and a vegetarian option. We sampled three delicious dishes from this menu: the cured sea trout starter with local beetroot; braised blade of beef with horseradish mash; and beetroot and Ribblehead goat's cheese risotto. We were thoroughly impressed with the flavour and presentation of every course.

With free Wi-Fi, newspapers and five varieties of hot chocolate on offer, you could easily maroon yourself at The Lister Arms for a few days of relaxation - and don't forget to grab a homemade pork pie on the way out
