The Old Hill Inn

0.5 miles
Chapel-le-Dale, Nr. Ingleton, LA6 3AR
Where better to go for a meal than an inn run by a family of chefs? Sabena Martin and husband Colin - a famous pastry chef and sugar sculptor extraordinaire whose genius is on display at The Old Hill Inn and at - and their daughter and son, Mailie Wills and Fred Martin, welcome guests with warm smiles and an unforgettable dining experience. Set in the Yorkshire Dales and originally a farm, this inn is packed with character - part of the building dates back to 1615. There are log fires to warm you in winter and two letting rooms are available upstairs, one of which was previously used by Winston Churchill on his holidays. There's even a touring caravan site on the grounds too.

After an invigorating walk through the Dales, put your feet up and let the pleasant and friendly staff wait on you. Begin with a starter such as the fennel and lemon risotto topped with shaved Parmesan. The main event is a show of local, expertly made deliciousness - perhaps opt for sautéed chicken breast served with a sauce of Noilly Prat, fresh herbs, lemon, creme fraiche and cream. There is even home-reared pork available from time to time. Just make sure you leave room for the likes of warm chocolate pudding with a white chocolate sauce and homemade vanilla ice cream. Serving delicious lunches too, and a superb selection of wines and ales from its fully stocked bar, The Old Hill Inn provides the perfect package, delivered with style.
