If you’re looking for a menu that showcases locally sourced, homemade produce in a charming setting, look no further than The Cookhouse. The idyllic café can be found in a postcard-worthy setting on the cobbled Main Street in Haworth.

The enthusiastic and talented Matt and Stacey have recently taken over, bringing flair to the business and the kitchen’s generously proportioned dishes. The menu features wholesome food packed with flavour, with everything from scrumptious breakfasts – including full English breakfasts and smoked salmon bagels – to tasty lunchtime favourites like homemade soup, panini, quiche, sandwiches and salads. The specials board changes with the seasons, so there’s always something new to try.

It was hard to resist the traditional three-tiered afternoon tea, which featured sandwiches with a choice of filling and two delicious freshly baked scones with lashings of cream and jam. Generous portions of red velvet cake and lemon poppy seed cake rounded things off nicely, though we were sorely tempted by all of the cakes – next time I think I’ll have to try the coffee and walnut. We consider ourselves to be afternoon tea connoisseurs, and this was one of the finest we’ve sampled. Large groups and special occasions are also catered for and a children’s menu is available, so nobody has to miss out.
