Dating back to 1720 and listed in the Domesday Book , Spencer Arms has always been a popular place to drink and dine. Situated at the foot of the Pennine Hills in the beautiful village of Cawthorne, the pub fuses olde-worlde charm with stylish decor, creating a warm and inviting ambience. In summer, the lovely beer garden comes to life with regulars and ramblers, and in colder weather you can gather around the bar.
Everything on the seasonal à la carte menu is made fresh in-house, and all meat is sourced locally from Cannon Hall Farm. The classic British menu caters for all tastes, with dishes ranging from beer-battered fish and chips and homemade sausage with creamy mash, to Barnsley chop or fish of the day. There’s a midweek set menu and an expanded range of delicious vegan and vegetarian options. The Little Lamb’s menu keeps children’s hunger at bay, while light bites offer the perfect accompaniment to a pint of Cask Marque-accredited hand-pulled real ale.
Thanks to the fabulous lunch served, Sundays are always busy, so it’s worth booking in advance. Look to the new private function room, The Baarn, to hold your next special occasion – it can cater for up to 35 people dining and 50 people standing.
