Appealing to a wide range of discerning customers, The Beckford specialises in providing quality food for all occasions. Whether catering for the casual lunchtime traveller, providing formal dining in the evenings, or hosting parties and group functions, the versatility and service of the venue immediately stand out. By anyone's standards this is classic country hospitality at its best, with visitors assured of an enjoyable and satisfying experience.

Comfy seating and a traditional roaring log fire greet you in the bar and lounge, where a selection of real ale awaits. Particularly impressive is the bar snack menu which offers an unusually large choice of interesting dishes. Fresh flowers throughout add a fragrant and thoughtful touch to the recently decorated, stylish surroundings. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.

The dining room is elegant and tasteful, complemented by soft pastel furnishings, crisp linen and an abundance of greenery. There is a great feeling of space here, with the tables set well apart for room to breathe and relax, with a service that is unhurried and unobtrusive. The menu is extensive, with an à la carte list of customers' favourites together with a wide choice of daily specials that head chef Mark Tierney creates from the finest, freshest ingredients available. Starters include confit of duck with balsamic dressing, whitebait with garlic bread, or the delightful pigeon breast with merguez sausage.

A feature of the main à la carte menu is the Steakman's Grill, a feast of rump steak, fried eggs, sausages, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms and onion rings satisfying a hearty appetite. A variety of fish dishes are recommended, including the very popular grilled sea bass fillets set on a lemon and dill fondant with potatoes and crayfish sauce. From the specials menu try the sumptuous rump of lamb with cheese-topped dauphinoise potatoes, with rosemary and redcurrant sauce and served with a selection of seasonal vegetables, or opt for the Chef's signature dish of cod wrapped in Parma ham on a bed of tagliatelli and pesto sauce.

Sticky toffee pudding and banoffee pie feature on the dessert menu together with a selection of sweets, including the delicious raspberry split and the delectable chocolate and pear tart, which are best enjoyed with a lingering Cafétiere of coffee.

Set in the rolling countryside, The Beckford provides classic, uncompromising, quality and service, which sets it apart from its rivals. Offering equally impressive accommodation, you will be very tempted to extend your stay until breakfast.
