Owners Barrie, Mu and their family bring over six years’ experience in serving authentic Thai food to their newest, family-run venture, Lotus Moon Thai Cuisine. Head chef Mu began accruing culinary expertise at the age of six and has inherited a lengthy list of family recipes – in addition to developing plenty of her own – which she now cooks with flair and expertise in the kitchen at Lotus Moon. This is Far Easterndining at its best in a setting that takes cues from Thailand, merging simplicity and modernity with vibrant artwork.
The menu is diverse and enticing and comprises a vast range of meat, fish and vegetarian plates. Where possible, this family of foodies source fresh produce locally and use authentic Thai herbs and spices in the dishes that they serve. We suggest starting with poh pia tod (spring roll parcels of minced pork, vegetables and clear noodles served with sweet chilli sauce) before moving onto an intensely flavoursome main course of gang dang talay (king prawns, squid, scallops and mussels in a fragrant Thai red curry with coconut milk, vegetables and basil), choosing a couple of sides and sundries if your appetite allows.
Lotus Moon’s truly tantalising bill of fare is complemented by hearty Thai soups, noodle dishes, Mu’s delicious homemade desserts and a bar that is stocked with a first-class selection of wines, beers and spirits.
