The Waterside Brasserie
The Waterside Brasserie offers diners award-winning food in a relaxed and comfortable setting. The talented chefs frequently update the menus to reflect the season’s harvest – though diners can always expect imaginative and flavoursome fare that delights the palate.
When we visited, the restaurant was bustling, filled with theatre-lovers, couples and large groups. From the à la carte menu I began with the Cotswold venison Carpaccio, which was beautifully presented with sweet pickled girolle, carrot ribbons, blackberries and hazelnuts. My appetite whet, I moved on to the main course. From the tempting selection I chose the Herefordshire beef served two ways – melt-in-the-mouth sirloin steak and flavoursome braised blade of beef in a rich jus. The meat was accompanied by buttery mashed potato, wilted spinach, glazed carrots and a floret of broccoli. From the extensive range of wine, Champagne and craft beer I chose a lovely red. The meal concluded with steamed orange pudding with slices of tart orange, drizzled in a complementary Grand Marnier and clotted cream sauce.
The restaurant’s two-AA-rosette-awarded fare can be enjoyed in the main dining room or on the all-weather terrace, which boasts lovely views of River Avon. The Arden Hotel also offers afternoon tea in The Lounge, and a range of tipples in the Champagne Bar.
