The Inn at Shipley is housed within a quaint Georgian building, which dates back to 1771. It is a haven for both locals and those from further afield, offering a welcoming atmosphere, excellent food and drink, and hospitable service.
The menus are extensive, offering everything from a light bite to a hearty meal, and a selection of children’s options too. You could begin with pan-fried wild mushrooms atop a toasted sourdough and accompanied by a poached egg, or perhaps the chicken liver pâté with plum and ginger chutney and ample toast will tickle your fancy. Next, select from the likes of steak and ale suet pudding, Thai-spiced hake fillet and braised shoulder of lamb. Vegetarians are also more than catered for with options such as sage, walnut and Parmesan gnocci.
Desserts are worth indulging in. Fans of the classics can enjoy the bread and butter pudding with apricot sauce and clotted cream, while chocoholics will be more than satisfied by the chocolate torte accompanied by bitter berries and Italian meringue.
Complementing the food offering is a thoughtfully crafted wine list, which offers something to suit all palates and budgets.
In the summertime, make the most of the lawn and bask in the sunshine, refreshing drink in hand.
