The Fortune Inn
Chinese and East Asian
The chefs at The Fortune Inn have carefully designed a menu that not only offers firm favourites, like beautifully crispy spring rolls and fried beef in black bean sauce, but also tempts the diner with a whole host of mouth-watering, exciting new dishes. Each culinary offering is prepared with the greatest precision and care, by chefs who remain true to traditional cooking methods passed down through generations.
My companion and I visited for dinner as a midweek treat. We were treated like old friends as we arrived, welcomed with smiles and shown to a table in the pretty little dining room, laid with crisp blue and white tablecloths, delicately painted china and, of course, chopsticks. The starters were exquisite and absolutely bursting with flavour. I chose the fried king prawns with spicy salt and chilli, which were succulent and so delicious that I was reluctant to share them with my friend, who had great things to say about his starter of spare ribs with Peking-style sauce. My main course of 'Snow White duck' was delightful - crispy roast duck stuffed with minced prawn and topped with a tasty crab meat sauce. My friend, a seafood lover, declared that his fried scallops with ginger and spring onion were the best he had ever tasted.
After such a wonderful meal, I can only applaud owner Peter Chu and his enthusiastic team, who for the last 12 years have been bringing the finest authentic Cantonese cuisine to Solihull. I for one feel lucky to have discovered The Fortune Inn.
