The Boat Inn
True to its name, The Boat Inn is located right beside the canal – ideal for sitting on the grassy bank and watching the boats go by. You can even turn up by boat and stay overnight on one of their private moorings. The child-friendly garden at the back includes a fantastic playhouse, a log burner keeps the interior cosy in winter, and dogs are welcome on leads, making The Boat Inn popular with families and ramblers alike.
Chef Matt Barnes serves generous portions of tasty, well-presented food, all home-cooked and, where possible, sourced from local producers. The succulent beef comes from grain-fed cattle at Onley Grounds Farm in Willoughby. They also serve a fabulous Sunday lunch, which was named the Best British Roast Dinner in the Midlands by Unilever. The lunchtime menu consists of traditional homemade dishes such as beer-battered cod and hand-cut chunky chips, steak and ale pie, and the Boat Burger with bacon and Brie. There is also a lighter brunch menu, which includes poached eggs, bagels with smoked salmon, and kippers with rice and peas. The evening menu is famed for its excellent steaks, burgers, and wonderful changing specials menu where the chef really comes into his own, taking world cuisine to a new level. It’s no wonder The Boat Inn was awarded Best Pub in the Coventry & Warwickshire Tourism and Culture Awards.
You can pre-order your food on The Boat Inn website and even set an alert against your favourite beer so they can let you know when it’s in stock or on special offer. A rustic barn, complete with outdoor decking, a dartboard and a large television, is available for private hire.
