Dining at La Zouch is a singular experience. Not only do they serve an excellent range of wines and spirits, they also dish up excellent traditional English food to cater for all tastes. The relaxed dining spaces, which are cosy and homely, are perfect for enjoying coffee, lunch or an evening meal. You can choose from four extensive menus - à la carte, table d'hôte, Sunday lunch, and a range of Christmas menus (when relevant). There is also a blackboard menu served at lunchtime, which changes daily and a snack menu is served between 10am and 4pm.

All meals are freshly prepared to order and the restaurant caters for any special dietary requirement. For starters, I opted for the pear and Stilton salad while my colleague selected the mushrooms in garlic cream sauce. My salad was a delicious medley of flavours, and I was told that the plump mushrooms were a delight. To accompany our meal we sipped a hand-picked Bordeaux - a Chateau du Seuil from 2001, to be precise - and its full-bodied flavour was a heady delight. Our starters were followed by beef stroganoff for myself, and the grilled sirloin steak for my companion. The hints of nutmeg in the stroganoff really enhanced the deep, warming dish. The steak was lean but juicy, and superbly cooked. Compliments to the chef - I will certainly be back for more.
