Oaks Bar & Grill
The AA-rosette-awarded Oaks Bar & Grill at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club offers international cuisine as well as English and Continental breakfasts, lunch and afternoon tea. The extensive dinner menu helpfully lists dishes alongside recommended wines. Upon the recommendation of the fantastic staff I chose a creamy goat’s cheese fritter accompanied by pops of pomegranate and crunchy walnuts, followed by a garden vegetable pasty on a bed of creamed spinach and wild garlic. My partner chose the smoked ham hock salad to start, followed by melt-in-the-mouth Gressingham duck breast. He finished with a simply phenomenal white chocolate cheesecake. My millefeuille – a tangy blueberry semifreddo layered between pieces of buttery lemon shortbread – provided an equally delightful end to my meal. Reservations are required, and can be made online for dinner and afternoon tea.
