Following the success of the Birmingham venue, Wing Wah's Coventry branch was opened in 2003 by world-renowned celebrity chef Ken Hom, and since then its client base has ballooned. Two more venues were soon opened in Wolverhampton and Nuneaton, and in 2012 the Coventry restaurant underwent a luxurious refurbishment.

Wing Wah's striking red-and-green signage, visible from the A45, invites you closer, and, upon pulling into the extensive car park, you'll see magnificent stone dragons flanking the entrance. Inside, we were warmly welcomed by the helpful staff and shown to our pristine table in the stylish dining room. The interior can seat up to 300 people, and the level of grandeur, with impressive glass chandeliers overhead, accurately reflects the quality and sophistication of the food produced. Due to the restaurant's size, Wing Wah is well-equipped to cater for functions.

My eyes bulged at the sight of the buffet stations offering 120 tantalising dishes to choose from, as well as the five cooking theatres, where professionally trained chefs are on-hand for live cooking. The huge array of dishes is changed regularly in accordance with the seasonal produce sourced from local suppliers. I eagerly equipped myself with a plate and picked out some mussels drizzled in sweet chilli sauce and other seafood delicacies. I then picked scrumptious squid, prawns, bean sprouts, rice and mushrooms, all of which were cooked to my liking right in front of me, then drizzled with teppanyaki sauce. This made for a glorious meal which I will soon want to repeat, not least because Wing Wah operates a loyalty card system where points collected can be redeemed against future bills - not that I need any excuse to return.
