Rudge, Nr. Frome, BA11 2QF
Located just ten miles from Bath, in the hamlet of Rudge, this traditional 1680s country pub has been providing a beacon of hospitality for hundreds of years. In a previous incarnation, The Full Moon brewed its own cider from apples grown locally, and now serves up local ales, cider and truly delicious food, gaining a reputation beyond its Somerset location.

This excellent standing is partly due to the management skills of new owners Chris and Anne Taylor, who took over in September 2007 and have created a warm, friendly atmosphere in which guests happily while away the afternoon. The rest of the accolades can be taken by new head chef Malcolm Bird, who is gaining favour for his traditional British cuisine, created through sourcing local ingredients and transforming them with more than a little flair. His Sunday carvery has become a local institution and the classic British theme is extended with cream teas, featuring homemade scones and locally-produced clotted cream, served in the beautiful garden during summer.

The Full Moon also offers 16 beautifully-appointed en-suite bedrooms and an indoor, heated swimming pool, meaning you can extend your enjoyment as long as you like. In the morning, wake up to the smell of sausages, supplied by a local butcher and made from free-range Somerset pork - a perfect start to a day exploring nearby Longleat. Chris and Anne will ensure you have the best possible stay.
