Syriana is an Aladdin's cave of assorted culinary treasures from the Middle East. Widely considered to be one of the more healthy types of cuisine, Syrian-Lebanese dishes traditionally feature a wealth of fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts. Drawing on age-old Arabic flavour combinations, Syriana's chefs also borrow elements of European cooking, fusing them with exciting Eastern spices in order to create a new brand of modern Arabic food.

A typical Middle Eastern meal starts with a meze. Try the refreshing tabbouleh - comprising parsley salad with tomato, fresh mint, onion, cracked wheat, lemon juice and olive oil dressing and as such ideal for vegetarians - or perhaps falafel or fattoush. Later, if you're a lamb fan, the kafta meshwi main - charcoal-grilled skewers of seasoned minced lamb with onion and parsley - is always a sound choice, while diners after a taste of the sea can opt for samke harra, featuring ovenbaked sea bass marinated with hot Mediterranean spices. Those with a sweet tooth won't be able to resist the baklava pastries filled with nuts and syrup.

It's worth noting Syriana's bring-your-own alcohol policy, as well as its private services, which include corporate catering. There is also a convenient car park at the rear of the restaurant. Traditional Middle Eastern music, belly dancers and superb, nutritious cuisine - all excellent reasons to organise your own Arabian night at Syriana.
