Mr White’s English Chophouse
Marco Pierre White’s first English chophouse, located at the sumptuous Hotel La Tour, provides a contemporary twist on a great British tradition. This exciting restaurant concept has its origins in 18th-century London when chophouses were created for businessmen to conduct their affairs over hearty plates of cooked meats washed down with fine wine and ale.
In the luxurious surroundings of the Hotel La Tour, Mr White’s English Chophouse specialises in fresh, high-quality meat cuts, prepared with precision by trained craftsmen. The menu cleverly combines English classics with French flair as dishes like lamb chops, roast saddle of venison, pork belly and grilled native lobster are prepared using traditional French techniques. Immerse yourself in the unique dining experience and perhaps plump for the likes of potted duck with green peppercorns followed by a quality steak – rib-eye, sirloin or fillet. Or go all-out for a chophouse special for two, such as the côte de boeuf à la Bordelaise, and accompany it with one of the carefully chosen Champagnes. Desserts are recognisable English classics with a Marco Pierre White twist. It is worth saving room for Mr White’s rice pudding with hot apricots or the Cambridge burnt cream with raspberries.
Quality ingredients, the best meat and seamless service are at the heart of this restaurant. Marco Pierre White has been closely involved with developing the chophouse. He says: “Mother Nature is the true artist and our job as cooks is to allow her to shine.” This is certainly in evidence at Hotel La Tour.
