This quirky venue in the bohemian Birmingham suburb of Kings Heath offers a twist on a traditional pub. A sister venue of the well-loved Sun on the Hill, The Sun at the Station - with its stylish painted woodwork, vintage Chesterfields and kitsch wallpaper - is the perfect setting for laid-back drinks and some hearty fare with a gourmet twist.

The atmosphere is buzzing with drinkers and diners and the whole place has a lovely sociable feel. Behind the bar you'll find carefully selected wines and spirits and plenty of lagers and ales to boot. As for the food, the monthly changing specials menu makes the most of the finest in-season produce from the local area, while the regular menu is filled with firm favourites - expect the likes of British beef burgers in brioche buns, classic hot dogs with a helping of fried onions and American mustard, pulled beef brisket ciabattas and a range of well-filled sandwiches and wraps. What's more, there's 50 per cent off all food orders every Tuesday.

Outside, the beer garden is said to be the biggest in Kings Heath, so there's plenty of space for all to enjoy al fresco dining in warmer weather - there's even a 'top-secret' cider shed where you can take shelter. Music lovers will be pleased to discover a host of regular entertainment, including some of the city's best DJs and live local music
