Thanks to their fervent passion for superb food and drink, the team at Edmunds has succeeded in creating a first-rate French gastrodome that shines brightly in the UK’s restaurant-dense second city. Situated in Birmingham’s sought-after Brindleyplace, Edmunds’ exclusive location and stylish interior instantly enamour all who visit, setting the tone with a golden palette, soft lighting, smartly dressed tables and elegant contemporary furnishings.

Diners are consistently wowed by the calibre of food served at Edmunds, which invariably turns first-time visitors into returning customers. Showcasing a contemporary take on the classic country-style cooking of southern France, executive head chef Richard Turner brings with him a wealth of Michelin-starred experience, providing an exciting foray into French cuisine. Expect superbquality ingredients prepared with skill and presented with flair and passion by a team of chefs that have already bagged two much-coveted AA rosettes. The regularly changing menu might feature the likes of fillet of Welsh black beef served with Jerusalem artichoke, fondant potato, glazed silver-skin onions and foie gras sauce; red mullet accompanied by ratatouille, confit tomato, octopus, aubergine purée and saffron; and smoked Morteau sausage with Savoy cabbage and Dauphinoise potato. Afters come in the form of vanilla crème brûlée with handmade shortbread, hot toffee soufflé with chocolate ice cream, and poached vanilla peach with Champagne sabayon, Brittany cake and pistachio ice cream. You’ll find a healthy balance of dishes to suit all appetites and requirements, and Edmunds’ obliging, attentive team prides itself on its knowledge of both the dishes and the produce used in their creation.

Edmunds’ wine list is a tour de force of high-quality, predominantly French varietals, a striking number of which can be served by the glass, thanks to the restaurant’s revolutionary Coravin corking system. Staff are only too happy to lend their expertise, offering pairing advice when asked. This kind of service leaves a lasting favourable impression. Whatever the occasion that prompts a visit to Edmunds, visitors are certain to leave wholly satisfied.
