Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Originally the headquarters of the Birmingham Banking Company, the historic building on Bennett’s Hill is now the handsome home of Cosy Club. When it comes to decor, think breathtaking, original Neo-classical features like Corinthian-styled columns, classy wooden wall panelling and decadently detailed high ceilings. Pair all of this with lavish leather Chesterfield club chairs, a scattering of velvet pouffes and a few tasteful pieces of wall-mounted taxidermy and you’ve got a Cosy Club that oozes style and opulence. Ascend the elegant staircase and take a seat in the sumptuously styled mezzanine dining area while you peruse a seasonally changing menu that’s wonderfully diverse and truly tantalising.
The new tapas menu is fantastic for lighter appetites. Confit pork cheeks with celeriac mash; baby squid with lobster aioli; and croquetas de jamón is just one set of many potential dynamic trios that diners will have a hard time choosing between. The dishes are priced at £3.95, £4.95 and £5.95 – or you can opt for the three plates deal and choose one from each section for £13.95.
For three courses of indulgence, Cosy Club has your back, with divine starters such as squid and chorizo salad with butterbeans, mixed leaves and a butterbean aioli, and mushroom bruschetta with pan-fried mushrooms, fresh spinach, smoked garlic and aged balsamic on crisp, toasted sourdough. A far-reaching range of mains sees diners choosing from dishes such as slow-roasted pork belly, proudly served with crackling, mash, pea purée, and a rich soy gravy, and Moroccan tabbouleh: fragrantly spiced aubergine and cherry tomatoes on a Middle Eastern inspired salad of bulgur wheat, mint, coriander, sultanas and pine nuts. Last but not least, satisfy your sweet tooth with terrific treats like homemade chocolate brownie with ice cream, and crème brûlée with lemon and ginger.
Fantastic food is only half the story. Cosy Club boasts a wonderfully well-stocked bar of draught and bottled beers and ales, wines and spirits. Take your evening at Cosy Club to the next level and order one of their fantastic seasonally inspired cocktails. The Kraken From Beneath, a veritable beast from the deep, is a concoction of fresh blackberries muddled with Kraken rum and Martell brandy, shaken hard with cinnamon, fresh lemon juice and cracked black pepper gomme.
The old Bank’s grand boardroom has been retained and is hireable for any function that requires a touch of style and class. Cosy Club’s extended service hours make it a venue for any day of the week and any occasion.
